The aLOKSAK Phone Sized Storage Bag keeps your phone and small valuables safe from water, dust, and sand on the trail. Learn practical uses and tips.
Quick answer
The aLOKSAK Phone Sized Storage Bag is a lightweight, re-sealable waterproof pouch designed to protect your phone and small valuables from water, humidity, dust, and sand while hiking or backpacking.
Why choose a phone-sized aLOKSAK?
The 3.9 x 7.5 inch size fits most modern smartphones snugly, so the bag adds minimal bulk and weight to your pack. At just 0.3 oz (8 g) per bag, it's an easy addition to any day hike or multi-day trip.
Unlike rigid cases or bulky dry boxes, the flexible film conforms to your phone, making it easy to slip into a pocket or hip belt. The hermetic seal keeps out air and moisture, which is key for electronics and important items.
Trade-offs to consider
Because the bag is designed for a phone, it won't fit larger items like a tablet or a map case. If you need to protect bigger gear, look for larger aLOKSAK sizes.
The seal is reliable but not indestructible; avoid overstuffing the bag, as this can stress the seal over time. For long-term storage, check the seal periodically.
Common questions
- Is the aLOKSAK phone bag truly waterproof?
- Yes, it is designed to protect against water, humidity, dust, and sand. The hermetic seal creates an airtight barrier when properly closed. Test the seal at home by submerging a paper towel inside before trusting it with your phone.
- Can I use it for items other than a phone?
- Absolutely. The 3.9 x 7.5 inch size is also great for cash, IDs, credit cards, small first-aid supplies, or a backup battery. Keep one in your pack for quick access to critical items.
- How do I close the bag properly?
- Press the seal together firmly from one end to the other, ensuring no fabric or debris is caught in the closure. This creates the airtight seal. Always double-check the seal before crossing water or in dusty conditions.
